Exhibition Tuning in

We have finally finished the tuning in phase of the exhibition! We have finished our central idea, lines of inquiry and key questions. My central idea is “Our differences deserve respect and acceptance.

My lines of inquiry and their related concepts are:

  1. An inquiry into what made women inspired to change gender inequality – Perspective
  2. An inquiry into what rights are different between men and women- Form
  3. An inquiry into how the gender gap has changed over the past 10 years- Change

It was tough during the tuning in phase. Making my central idea was really hard, it took 2 weeks forming concepts and ‘marrying them together’. Afterwards, we wrote all of the questions we could think of and put them in the lotus diagram. (This is the link to the lotus diagram image: This is the Link!! ) It was really hard afterwards because we had to puck our 3 favourite questions. I eventually picked these questions: What made women inspired to change gender inequality, What are the different rights between men and women and How has the gender gap changed over the past 10 years? And up to now, we are just trying to research as much as we can before the next phase.

Order of Adjectives

This video teaches you about how to put your adjectives in the right order. We learnt about it on Monday and then we decided to make a video about the order. I hope you enjoy it!

6 Word story

We had to create a 6-word story which is a story with only 6 words and it has to have emotion to it. After we finished it, we had to find a picture that matches it on splash face and add it to the story on pic collage. This is mine, I hope you like it!

Exhibition Reflection

Over the past few sessions, we have been doing our central idea, lines of inquiry and key questions. Right after my last post I had decided my central idea which is our differences should define our opportunities. After that, we wrote questions about our topic and afterwards, we sorted them to the PYP attitudes. Then we picked our 3 favourite questions and turned them into lines of inquiry. My 3 lines of inquiry are an inquiry into how the gender gap has changed over the past 10 years, an inquiry into what made women inspired to change gender inequality and an inquiry into what rights are different between men and women. Now we are ready to research an really get into the exhibition.

Exhibition Introduction

This year in year 5 I am doing the PYP Exhibition. The PYP Exhibition is a Exhibition tp celebrate the end of our PYP journey from reception to year 5. For the Year 5 Exhibition I have decided to do gender inequality. I have decided to do gender inequality because I want the girls in this school to know that women can do anything they want to do and that the stereotypes that girls are into this and boys are into that. The transdisciplinary theme that I have decided that fits best with gender inequality is Who We Are and How We Express Our Selves because Who We Are and How We Express Our Selves is all about belief, values expressing ideas and rights and responsibilities. Some concepts that I thought of are differences, Justin, diversity, respect, acceptance, raising awareness and respect. My Central Idea isn’t decided yet, but the two ideas I had were our differences shouldn’t change our opportunities and our differences require respect and acceptance. 100 Word Challenge: Grumpy

New day, new term. Coming back from a 6 week holiday and seeing all of my friends again and all of my favourite teachers. I should be happy, right? Well, I’m not. At the end of last year I found out that I was going to be in a class with my arch nemesis, Tiffany. This had put me in the worst mood for the whole summer holidays which had made me despise her even more. I mean who makes someone ruin their holidays? The reason I hate her is a whole different story. Anyway, I came to school Grumpy, annoyed and angry.
