Week 10 Exhibition Reflection

Week 10 has definitely been the most stressful week because we had to finish making conclusions for the holidays. I have currently finished my 3 information reports and my dance in P.E. I am currently working on my poems and my bar graph. I am struggling on my second poem because I am having trouble with finding inspiration. I have started to think about what I want my Exhibition to look like and how I am going to design and arrange it. I have created quote sheets and I am going to pin them up scattered around. I will also have a mind map of the interviews I did. It will start with a page that talks about why I wanted to do interviews and then it will going in a order of when I interviewed them. My art poster is a real struggle to do because I can’t find a ‘punchy’ message.

I am freaking out for the exhibition but I am super exited for the actual night!

Sorting out and Going Further Reflection

Sorting out and going further is almost over and we are about to enter the making conclusions stage. It was stressful realising how much research I have done and how much I need to do. I was also successful because I wrote a letter to a gender inequality specialist.

All of my lines of inquiry have been finished and my researching is all sorted but I am still worried that I haven’t done enough research. I’m not sure why I am still worried because I have interview a lot of people like our principal, my exhibition classroom teacher, my mum and dad and my teacher.

Those primary sources were a real boost for my exhibition research and gave me a whole different perspective on gender inequality. I am hoping to record some extra information on the weekend before it is all due on Monday.

This weeks mentor meeting went well and our dance is improving every second especially because we have got our 2 Howcast moves and have included it into our dance. We have started the exhibition in Art, we are doing a poster about our topic. It has to short sharp and shiny, not too crowded and powerful. In music we have been told that we are going to be doing something about our exhibition but the secret of what it is hasn’t been revealed. In media arts I am super behind and I need to catch up. I would enjoy talking to Mr. Steel about gender inequality.

I am super exited for the next step in our exhibition journey and I am ready to take on the challenge!

Exhibition reflection: Week 6

We are at the end of our finding out stage, about to delve into the sorting out stage of our PYP Exhibition. I have done a lot of research and it has been a bit of a struggle trying to find resources that give me the information I want and trying to find out if it is a trustable website has also been difficult.

Staying on task and making a lot of progress has been one of my goals for this week and I think I have achieved that with a bit of difficulty as I can get distracted at times. I have recently discovered that at the end of the exhibition we are going to write a booklet or a report so that information has only made me more determined to stay on task and reach my goal.

Our dance in P.E. is going well and we are about to start doing exhibition in music. This week has been productive and I am a bit scared about finishing our finding out stage.

Exhibition Tuning in

We have finally finished the tuning in phase of the exhibition! We have finished our central idea, lines of inquiry and key questions. My central idea is “Our differences deserve respect and acceptance.

My lines of inquiry and their related concepts are:

  1. An inquiry into what made women inspired to change gender inequality – Perspective
  2. An inquiry into what rights are different between men and women- Form
  3. An inquiry into how the gender gap has changed over the past 10 years- Change

It was tough during the tuning in phase. Making my central idea was really hard, it took 2 weeks forming concepts and ‘marrying them together’. Afterwards, we wrote all of the questions we could think of and put them in the lotus diagram. (This is the link to the lotus diagram image: This is the Link!! ) It was really hard afterwards because we had to puck our 3 favourite questions. I eventually picked these questions: What made women inspired to change gender inequality, What are the different rights between men and women and How has the gender gap changed over the past 10 years? And up to now, we are just trying to research as much as we can before the next phase.

Exhibition Reflection

Over the past few sessions, we have been doing our central idea, lines of inquiry and key questions. Right after my last post I had decided my central idea which is our differences should define our opportunities. After that, we wrote questions about our topic and afterwards, we sorted them to the PYP attitudes. Then we picked our 3 favourite questions and turned them into lines of inquiry. My 3 lines of inquiry are an inquiry into how the gender gap has changed over the past 10 years, an inquiry into what made women inspired to change gender inequality and an inquiry into what rights are different between men and women. Now we are ready to research an really get into the exhibition.

Exhibition Introduction

This year in year 5 I am doing the PYP Exhibition. The PYP Exhibition is a Exhibition tp celebrate the end of our PYP journey from reception to year 5. For the Year 5 Exhibition I have decided to do gender inequality. I have decided to do gender inequality because I want the girls in this school to know that women can do anything they want to do and that the stereotypes that girls are into this and boys are into that. The transdisciplinary theme that I have decided that fits best with gender inequality is Who We Are and How We Express Our Selves because Who We Are and How We Express Our Selves is all about belief, values expressing ideas and rights and responsibilities. Some concepts that I thought of are differences, Justin, diversity, respect, acceptance, raising awareness and respect. My Central Idea isn’t decided yet, but the two ideas I had were our differences shouldn’t change our opportunities and our differences require respect and acceptance.
